We have had train station permits to ply for hire at train stations in Dorset and we have seen many trains arrive late every day and frequent train cancellations from either railway strikes or railway suicides. Hill Taxis strongly advises if you are transferring to an airport or seaport by train that you allow extra time for your travel, because your cruise or scheduled flight will not wait for you.
If you are getting an early flight, you might need to use a taxi service to transfer you to the airport as at those times of the day there is no public transport. We often take people to meet their early morning flights and we regularly drive through the night to airports such as Luton airport, Gatwick airport and Stansted airport.
There are other ways of getting to most major airports, National Express coaches offer frequent coaches from Poole and Bournemouth coach stations which go to all London airports, however we strongly advise using a family member, family friend or taxi to get you to the coach station, if you are leaving your travel to the coach station until the very last minute.
On the 16th of October 2019 for example, we transferred two separate customers to Gatwick airport and Heathrow airport, whom both of which were booked to travel by train to these airports. Unfortunately on Wednesday the 16th of October trains were not running to or from London to either Poole, Wool, Moreton, Dorchester South or Weymouth train stations, and this happens more often than you probably realise. These were our first two customers of October to use our airport taxi service due to train service disruption, although in September we received requests for four airport transfers due to immediate train disruption experienced by our passengers, and over the summer we did nine airport transfers due to train disruptions, we find it is very common that the trains locally in Dorset let down their customers.
The coach services are very reliable and they are very good at getting all their customers to all of their destinations. We also have managed to transfer every customer to the airport without any issues at all, every customer made check in and that even includes our two separate passengers on Wednesday the 16th of October 2019, who not only made their flight on time with us, but got there by not using the train service that day.
